Hi guys! My name is Justine and I am a Western Lifestyle & Wedding Photographer. I’m a Cali cowgirl turned Kansan and am no stranger to the western & ranch lifestyle! I grew up and was raised on a commercial cattle operation in CA and have lived & breathed the traditional ranching way of life since birth.

I try my best to capture all things the western way & document this way of life to ensure our story, our culture, and our kind live on well beyond our years.

why ‘Women of the West’

I grew up around & was raised by some of the most gritty, but graceful women and can attest the woman I am today to every single one of them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve learned a lot of things growing up around cowboys. However, the things I learned from growing up around cowgirls are beyond compare. While men taught me to rope, it was a woman who taught me how to earn my spot in a branding pen. While it was a man who introduced me to the ranching world, it was a woman who taught me how to fight, support, and advocate for our industry in order to keep it alive. While it was a man who taught me about cattle, it was women who not only taught me how to be a cowgirl, but to do it with grit & grace.

I almost never miss an opportunity to showcase a woman's part and contribution to, in my opinion, one of the greatest industries and cultures there is - agriculture. Women of the west is derived from the idea of giving women their moment in the spotlight and who better to capture that than other women?

about ‘Women of the West’

I live in a small town in North Central Kansas and I see the struggle for connection, socialization, and community among women every single day. I’m always thinking of ways to bring people (women especially) together to create a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment and one day it just hit me. What better thing to bring us together than cameras and cowgirls?

Women of the West will be a women only Western Photography Content Weekend designed to showcase women in the industry & lifestyle! All models (besides the couple shoot) will be female!

Participants will spend the weekend capturing and creating art that tells a story and shows the beauty of the industry while making connections with other women and photographers who have a passion for the same thing! We’ll get to know each other, chat about all things western lifestyle, photography & business, and more! I’ll also make time for a Q&A moment if there is anything you’d like to ask me!

It’s like the ultimate ‘Girl Power’ weekend.

Clothing will be used during Western Fashion/Styled Shoot

Only thing better than a boutique with adorable, classy, and relevant clothing, is one run by badass western women. I have had the opportunity to start working with Crooked Horn Co this past year and have loved getting to know them, shop with them, and collaborate with them. I can’t wait to share some of their beautiful pieces with you!

A little about Crooked Horn Co:

Crooked Horn Co. ~ A mother - daughter trio bringing unique flair in western fashion that enables women to feel confident and beautiful.

Classic, unique, and beyond chic; Crooked Horn brings flair to western fashion with a desire to make a difference in every customer’s style.

Being raised on a small ranch in northern Arizona; sacrifice, dedication, and hard work is second nature to all three women. At a very young age, their husband/father passed-away leaving the three to face life’s challenges together. At 5 and 8 years of age, both daughters learned that life would throw them many curve balls, and one must face the challenge head on and find a way to succeed. Raising two young daughters while running a small ranch and working full time, positive mind set and a strong will to survive became the way of life. As the three overcame a difficult time in their lives, they also realized the many blessings they had received along the way. One of those many blessings was their family.

When able, their father/grandfather assisted on the ranch while raising cattle of his own. He was a man of great humor giving each cow, calf, bull, etc. a name based on their attitude, look or special attribute. One in particular was a cow named Millie which became well known for her crooked horns and the various ways she utilized them to succeed in life. In honor of their father/grandfather and Millie, the women launched Crooked Horn Company with a belief that integrity, work ethic, family, and quality would be the base of their operations.
